London is the new fashion capital according to the Global Language Monitor. London has overtaken New York City first place as the Top Global Fashion Capital for 2011. New York had reclaimed the crown from Milan last year.
For London’s first place contributed two fashion icons. First is Kate Middleton who married The British prince William and became the duchess of Cambridge. And the second event is the tragical death of British designer Alexander McQueen. The media interest focused on this two events.
London and New York were followed by Paris, Milano, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong. Barcelona, Singapore, Tokyo and Berlin rounded out the top ten. Previous to this, New York had been the top fashion capital for five years running. Berlin and Singapore broke into the Top Ten for the first time.

NEW YORK - New York has reclaimed the title of the world’s top fashion capital again after Milan has ended New York’s five-year reign as the world’s top fashion city last year. The annual poll suggested the top five fashion cities are seeing competition from Asia and Australia. The survey was made by the Global Language Monitor, a U.S. based non-profit group that tracks the frequency of words and phrases in the media, on the Internet and throughout the blogosphere.
Topping the list for 2010 are New York, Hong Kong, London, Paris, and Los Angeles. Milan, Sydney, Miami Barcelona and Madrid followed. This was the first time the two Iberian cities were ranked in the Top Ten. Top movers included Hong Kong, Madrid and Melbourne. In the battle for the Subcontinent Mumbai again outdistanced Delhi, while Sao Paulo continued its leadership over Rio, Buenos Aires and Mexico City in Latin America.

MTV Europe awards 2010 took place on 7th of November j2010 at a gala ceremony in Madrid.
Lady Gaga took the most prizes in top categories. Just reminding you that the singer walked away with eight trophies at the US version of the MTV Video Music Awards two months ago and caused a furor with her dress made of slices of meat. But this time, Lady Gaga’s outfit is not an issue for discussion as she did not attend the award ceremony. She was in Budapest for her Monster Ball tour during the awards. “This means so much to me — Europe I love you,” Lady Gaga, who switched between sets from a giant-shouldered purple jacket with spangled shades, to a leopard-skin bodice and last a see-thru nurse outfit, told fans via a live link.
Katy Perry, who like Lady Gaga was nominated in five categories, picked up the best video award for her hit single “California Gurls”.
Best rock went to US band Thirty Seconds to Mars, the best new act prize to the US singer Ke$ha and best alternative to the US pop-punk outfit Paramore.
The best hip hop award was for Eminem, who offered his thanks in a video beamed from Brazil, and best live went to the Americans “Linkin Park” — who were performing in downtown Madrid at the same time.
The Global icon prize went to Bon Jovi who make 27 years this year.
The gala ceremony was hosted by Eva Longoria from “Desperate housewives”.

Jimena Navarrete, Miss Mexico 2010 has been crowned Miss UNIVERSE 2010. The beautiful Mexican is the 59th MISS UNIVERSE at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada that took place on 23 August 2010.
The first runner-up was Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps, followed by Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell, the second runner-up. Miss Ukraine Anna Poslavska, and Miss Philippines Venus Raj only occupied the third and fourth places.
Jimena told that she is extremely proud to have won the title. She also added that people back home must be going wild at her win. The 22-year-old Miss Universe is born in Guadalajara Mexico and has been modeling since she was 15. She is Mexico’s second Miss Universe. Lupita Jones of Mexico won the title in 1991. Jimena Navarrete wore a stunning formal red dress, and looked beautiful in a violet bikini.
Apart from the crown, Navarrete won a package of prizes including an undisclosed salary, a luxury New York apartment with living expenses, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy with housing after her reign, plus jewelry, clothes and shoes fit for a beauty champion.
