Bold Eyebrows Fashion Trend 2012

October 19, 2011

Eyebrows fashion trends for 2012.

Liz Taylor eyebrows are definitely having a moment of fame on the 2012 runways. At Altuzarra (the center photo), lead makeup artist Tom Pecheux created a combination of MAC Smolder Eye Kohl and Carbon Eye Shadow to create a “strong but feminine” shape that hit thickest at the arch and then tapered a few inches past the outer corners. At Derek Lam (left photo), Pecheux accentuated hefty hedges with a swipe of yellow-toned eye shadow and copper mascara, while at LAMB, makeup is done by Maybelline Global Makeup Artist Charlotte Willer using eye pencil and pale natural lips. All of the presented makeup looks are with bold and confidant eyebrows.

Smoky Eye Makeup Trends Emma Watson

August 17, 2011

Makeup trends that celebrities go for. Emma Watson’s makeup highlight is the smoky, golden eye make up. Emma’s darkly shadowed eyes go beyond smoky, they are golden too. While the smattering of gold leaf at the outer corners gives the makeup an appropriate sprinkling of magic, the charcoal and black. Emma’s makeup artist has not held back on black – she has built this makeup with layers of charcoal eye shadow, black eyeliner and lashings of black mascara, then allowed the gold pigment to bring it all to life. The accent goes on the eyes, the rest is just a neutral lip gloss and touch of blusher.

Make-up Trends Fall 2011

March 17, 2011

What are the make-up fashion trends for 2011?

The dark lips, the sculpted cheeks and the sheer, smoldering eyes. The makeup artist Lucia Pica backstage at Roksanda Ilincic. “Sophisticated and groomed, but not too pretty,” Pica elaborated, dragging MAC Fluidline Eyeliner Gel in Blacktrack along both the top and bottom lash lines and extending her brushstroke out toward models’ temples to create an elongated shape. For her next trick, Pica coated lids with MAC Eyeshadow in Cork, a sepia brown shade that enhances the natural color of the skin, before turning her attention to cheeks, which were sculpted with off-kilter shades of foundation and highlighted with a few finger dabs of MAC’s Cream Colour Base in Shell. As for that showstopping lip, Pica hand-blended an assortment of glosses with MAC Lipstick in Film Noir for a high-shine, deep berry finish—the first burgundy-hued pout we’ve seen thus far this season and the same shade that inspired manicurist Sophy Robson’s copper-tinged bordeaux nails. It was all from the nineties with a slight seventies flair, thanks to long, loose waves that hairstylist Shon prepped with Redken Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam before middle-parting, setting for a curl, and brushing through.

Bright Colors Makeup Trends 2010

June 3, 2010

Brigh makeup colors for this spring-summer season will be the fashion makeup trend. There’s something contagiously fun about bright, bold makeup colors. You can choose between the techno lip, vivid eyeshadow, or strong cheek , but remember the accent has to be on one of them if you don’t want to look funny.

This season’s foray is evocative of the spirited ’80s pop star vibe. We have chosen pictures from spring-summer collections of Dolce and Gabbana, Prada and Marc Jacobs.

Eye Makeup Technique

Brighter eye shadows will add depth and intensity to the face, especially when applied along the upper lash line, or as part of a smoky eye summer routine. Pair a taupe or plum shadow with the turquoise side of NARS Burn It Blue Duo Cream Eyeshadow along the lash line or use a dark black or gray color all over the lid. Then, layer a small amount of Burn It Blue’s ocean blue shimmer all over the dark shade, blending the shadow seamlessly into the crease.

Make Up Fashion Trends Spring-Summer 2010: Eyebrows

April 12, 2010

Eyebrows as seen on the runways for spring-summer 2010. The eyebrows fashion trends are very extreme this year. We see either completely natural and underlined eyebrows like in Alexander Wang and Oscar de la Renta fashion shows or completely invisible blond eyebrows as in Prada, Alexander McQuieen and Miu Miu.

Alexander Wang make up trends: thick eyebrows combed upwards with dark foundation and natural lip color.

Oscar de la Renta keeps the eyebrows natural and additionally underlines them with eyebrow pencil. The eyes are also emphasized with an eyeliner. The accent is on the eyes, while the lips are natural.

Freckles – How To Treat and Prevent Them

Freckles are very often a subject of complaint from many women. It’s so difficult to maintain an even skin tone nowadays with the sun bad effect. We all know that the number of freckles increase in summer and decrease in winter. They very often disappear in mid forties and are replaced by the age spots. To avoid or at least slow down the appearance of those, you need to take preventive measures.

1. Wear a proper sun screen

2. avoid sun exposure

These two are the main measures you can take. Since when we expose our body to the sun, it produces melanin and melanin causes discoloration.

Some facial procedures like peeling and skin lightening could help since melanin is stored on the top layer of the skin. Hydroquinone is one of the best treatments on the market as well as the Japanese product Kojic acid which is derived from fungi and is very gentle to the skin and has a proven effect. It prevents melanin creating as it attacks the upper layers of the skin.

Very important: You should avoid sun exposure while using any of these products and apply a high SPF sun screen.

You can also try with natural products like sour milk or yogurt. Lemon juice is also a well known skin lightener. Skin masks made of fruits or vegetables like strawberry, cucumber, apricot are also good. Mix lemon juice, orange juice, red currant juice and parsley juice of equal quantity and apply on you skin. Have plenty of vitamin C in your food.

How to shape eyebrows

March 5, 2009
eyebrows

You can only work with what you have

The first rule in how to shape your eyebrows is: You can only work with what you have.  These eyebrows are fairly thin on the ends and  rather straight.  We are going to shape them up a bit, but not give an extreme arch.

You’ll have to do the same, and work with what you currently have. You can remove hair or use pencil to make them look fuller, but you can’t instantly grow them. The following steps will help you decide what hair to keep, or to remove.

eye-design

Where the Eyebrow Begins

Where should the Eyebrow Begins

The general rule of thumb for eyebrow shaping is that if you took a ruler to the inner corner of your eye, that is about where the brow should begin. If you like a more natural look, you can always leave a bit more hair.

Eyebrow Shaping Tips:

  • You have wide set eyes (too far apart), then you could leave a few extra hairs outside of the above line towards the nose of to make eyes “appear” closer.
  • You have close set eyes (too close together), then you could leave a few extra hairs inside of the above line towards the eyes, to make them “appear” farther.

As you can see our model’s eyebrows already go a bit further in toward the eye.

How to Arch Eyebrows

How to Arch your Eyebrows

On deciding on how to arch your eyebrows one of the most important part of designing the brow, we are going to use other features for a reference. For our model here, I’ve decided on a small arch because she doesn’t have a lot of eyelid, and she has straight brows.

So placing a ruler on tip of her nose as a reference, and taking the ruler over her pupil brings me to a section of her brow that you see above. This is going to be the “peak” of her arch.

Another reference point is the top of the nostril, still aiming for over the middle of the pupil for a medium arch, but the far side of the pupil for a large arch. (Tip: right nostril for right eye, left nostril for left eye).

Where the Eyebrow Should End

Where the Eyebrow Should End

Where the Eyebrow Should End

Place the end of a ruler at the outer nose and put on the corner of the eye, this is where the brow should end. On the model above, she’s right on target. Usually, it’s only a slight bit if women are outside this last line.

Eyebrow Shaping Tips:

Most of the time over-plucking has resulted in brows not meeting this end point. If that’s the case for you, use a brow pencil a shade lighter than your brows until it grows out.

Example of Eyebrows Already Shaped

You can see the perfect eyebrow shape already in place for this model, showing the three lines being used in her design. Notice when someone shapes the brows correctly, the eyes are framed nicely. If the first thing you notice on someone is their eyebrows, then they’re not the right shape.

Now, let’s get back to our original model’s eyebrows. We’ll start her designing.

First trim the eyebrows if necessary

First trim the eyebrows if necessary

First Trim the eyebrows If Necessary

If you want to learn how to shape your eyebrows like the pros, then trim them if they need it. I’ve already trimmed my models eyebrow, to our right. You can see the difference this has already made.

A big mistake women make is not trimming their brows. When the eyebrow hair is long, sometimes women end up taking out too much hair when they really needed to take out bulk. So trim first!

Here’s how to tell if you need to trim: Brush your eyebrows straight up, and if there are any hairs longer coming out of your natural shape on top, then trim it.

Yes, you can do this on your own, it’s very simple. Use a fine-tooth regular comb or an eyebrow brush to push eyebrow hair up, and then just trim what is outside the shape with small scissors (preferably eyebrow scissors).

Select Hair for Eyebrow Arches and Shape

Select Hair for Eyebrow Arches and Shape

Now, create your eyebrow arches and choose exactly which hair you will be removing. If you’re tweezing, put concealer or white eyeliner on the hairs that need to go: underneath, the middle, and on top so you don’t wander off.

For our model above, I’m only taking off hair underneath her brow. She has nothing in the middle to remove, and no stray hairs above the shape. We’re going to continue to work on her right eye so you can see the difference in the final result.

Eyebrow Arching and Shaping Tips:

If you take hair off the top of the eyebrow, don’t go into the main shape. Just take the stray hairs outside the shape.

Finished Eyebrow Shape

Finished Eyebrow Shape

Here you can take a look at the finished eyebrow shape on our right, compared to the one on our left that hasn’t had any work. Such a difference!

The extra effort prepping your brows will pay off in the result. Once you have the exact shape you like, the upkeep will be easy. You will be able to see clearly what has grown in and needs to be removed.
