The famous pop star Madonna and and Iconix Brand Group announced they are to launch a fashion brand together. The brand is called “Material Girl” after Madge’s nickname and famous album. The company, MG Icon, will be 50 percent owned by Iconix and 50 percent by Madonna and her manager, and it will hold a license to use the singer’s name for clothes, footwear and other products. The new joint venture will start with launching a juniors collection which will be sold at Macy’s department stores and online hopefully in August.
Designers of the new collection will be 51-year-old Madonna and her teenage daughter Lourdes Leon in collaboration with Iconix’s in-house fashion department. The line will include clothes, jewelry and other accessories with prices starting from about $12.

Lady Gaga promoted her new single Telephone as a guest on Jonathan Ross’s show. During the show, the famous 23-year old singer changed three different outfits on the theme of the telephone. Lady Gaga was wearing a sparky black suit showing her bra and of course a piece of an old fashioned telephone on her head.
Lady Gaga performed her song coming out from a traditional red phone booth in a studded PVC corset with feathers on her shoulders, knee-high boots and fishnet torn tights. Her wavy two toned hair split in half pink and blond.
During the interview, Lady Gaga told Ross: ‘I feel completely detached from the celebrity world. You never see me falling out of nightclubs.’

Rihanna celebrated her 22nd birthday. She intended to spend a quiet night out, but her rumoured new boyfriend, the baseball star Matt Kemp threw her a surprise party. Rihanna was given a lap dance by a 4ft tall stripper and soon she joined the party spirit. The R&B star and her female friends hit the dance floor with dirty dancing.
Rihanna was dressed for the occasion in a skin tight nude dress with cut out panels and a tiara in her hair.
Her boyfriend Matt Kemp organized the party more than a month and presented her with a birthday cake decorated with copies of her tattoos.

The supermodel Bar Rafaeli started a battle with her native Israeli army. The latter has launched a campaign against swimsuit model and called for a boycott of products the 24-year-old promotes. The model, who has applied for non-resident status in her native Israel for tax purposes, is said to have avoided the compulsory two-year military service. Bar Rafaeli, who is dating Leonardo DiCaprio since 2005 with breaks in between, first stirred army anger when she got an exemption from military service by getting married in 2007. She divorced soon after and proved the rumors for her false marriage. Armed forces human resources director Avi Zamir called for a boycott as he addressed students near Tel Aviv.
